Tried-and-tested exercises for different age groups — ready to use straight away.
Goal: Learn basic throwing and catching techniques, develop enjoyment of movement.
Equipment: 1 frisbee per 2 students (soft flex disc recommended).
How it works: Students stand in pairs facing each other (approx. 3–5 metres apart). They gently throw the disc to each other, focusing on the catch. Gradually increase the distance. Variation: after a successful catch, take one step back.
Tip: Focus on two-handed catching — great for building coordination!
Goal: Train throwing accuracy and various throwing techniques.
Equipment: Frisbees, cones, hoops or cardboard boxes as targets.
How it works: Set up 4–5 stations with different targets (e.g. throw through a hoop, hit a cone, throw into zones). Students rotate through the stations, taking 3–5 attempts at each before moving on.
Differentiation: Vary distances to match students' ability levels.
Goal: Learn the basic rules of Ultimate Frisbee, promote teamwork.
Equipment: 1 frisbee (Bio-175g), markers for end zones.
How it works: Two teams (4–7 players each). The aim is to move the disc into the opposing end zone. Players may not run while holding the disc. If the disc touches the ground or is intercepted, possession changes. Use simplified rules for beginners.
Spirit of the Game: Fair play comes first — no referee needed!
Goal: Fun with frisbees, precision, and strategic thinking.
Equipment: Frisbees, markers (cones, hoops) as "holes".
How it works: Set up a course with 6–9 stations, each with a target (e.g. a cone to hit). Students try to reach all targets in as few throws as possible. Points are counted as in golf.
Variation: Use the school playground or a park outdoors — natural obstacles make it even better!
Goal: Combines running, throwing and catching — huge fun factor!
Equipment: Frisbees, markers for the running track.
How it works: Played like rounders, but with a frisbee instead of a ball. One team throws and runs; the other team tries to catch the frisbee and return it to the starting point before the runner completes their lap.
Rule tip: If the frisbee touches the ground, the runner may continue!
